Weddings are special occasions that should always be characterized by love and joy. Unfortunately, Becky Turner’s special day was also overshadowed by the recent death of her son. She tried her best to make marrying the man of her dreams as smooth as possible because she didn’t want her life to completely fall apart. The day’s events seemed to go smoothly. However, that changed when a certain stranger showed up. Triston, her 19-year-old son, died from an accidental gunshot wound. The teenager was an organ donor, and others received his organs so they could live the life he could no longer live. After an intense period of mourning, Becky and Kelly were scheduled to marry in Alaska.
Becky left a spot for her son with a note that makes the heart ache even more. There was no way Becky was going to enjoy her special day without paying homage to him, even though he wasn’t physically present. The ceremony appeared to be going according to plan, with Becky and Kelly on track to exchange vows as expected. The wedding was canceled shortly before Becky and Kelly’s wedding. Becky had no idea that Kelly had been keeping a shocking secret from her for several months – a secret that would make everyone at the wedding cry. Becky recognized Jacob Kilby, a 21-year-old who appeared immediately. Triston’s organs were donated to those in need after his death.
One of them was Jacob, who traveled 480 miles to attend the ceremony and received Triston’s heart. Kelly had contacted the man in the months before the wedding and asked him to attend. Additionally, Becky listened to her late son’s heartbeat using a stethoscope in Jacob’s chest. Becky heard her beloved son’s heart for the first time since the tragic accident and it had a significant impact on her special day.
Triston’s legacy will live on through Jacob. It goes without saying that because of Jacob’s appearance, there were not many people who had dry eyes around. Of course, nothing can be done to bring Triston back, but at least Becky can look back on their wedding day and know that an aspect of him, both physical and spiritual, was present.
