The tiniest dog in the world has a size of a hamster

It’s official: the prize for the smallest dog in the world has been awarded to Pearl, a two-year-old female Chihuahua. At 12.7 cm long, the pooch is the size of a hamster.

On April 9, Pearl, a two-and-a-half-year-old female American Chihuahua, entered the Guinness Book of World Records . The reason ? She became “the smallest dog in the world”.

And the least we can say is that the female dog fully deserves her title. With its 9.14 cm in height and 12.7 cm in length, the dog is ” about the same size as a dollar bill “, specifies the Book of Records in a press release.

But that’s not all ! The little creature weighs only 553 grams: “It is lighter than a basketball ,” explains the organization on its site.

Unsurprisingly, Pearl is the delight of its owners, a family originally from the city of Orlando, Florida. The Chihuahua lives with three other ” normal size ” dogs.

One thing is certain: Pearl is the darling of her masters. According to her masters, the dog, who was born in 2020, is a real ” diva who has her little habits “.

At home, the quadruped is watched over by two dog-sitters. Their missions? Devoting oneself exclusively “ to the needs of Pearl, which are many ”, indicate the owners of the animal on the Guinness World Records website.

His diet consists of high quality ” chicken and salmon ” foods. A treat to stay fit and healthy.

Note that the previous record holder was the aunt of… Pearl! The dog, named Miracle Milly, died shortly before the hairball was born.
