Even though more than 30 years have passed since her short-lived marriage to Richard Gere, Cindy Crawford is going back in time to look back on her relationship with the Pretty Woman star.
The 57-year-old fashion icon appeared in Apple TV+ documentary series The Super Models, where she opened up about how impressionable she was as a lovestruck 22-year-old.
At the start of a relationship, when you’re a young woman, you say to yourself: “Do you like baseball? I like baseball. Do you really like Tibetan Buddhism? I might like it. I’ll try,” she said.
Gere, 74, is well known for his commitment to Buddhism.
“You are ready to model yourself after the person you are in love with.
Crawford admitted that not only did his beliefs change, but so did his career.
After becoming part of the “fashion elite,” she found herself exploring other possibilities.
“He was older and I found myself in a different circle,” she says, “and I wasn’t doing the same fashionable things anymore.”
The supermodel admitted that at 22, she was “still figuring out” who she was and what she wanted to be, which made a relationship with Gere, 37, difficult at times.
“I didn’t want to hear it from him because at 22 you think you know everything and you think you’re already trained, then you realize ten years later that they were absolutely right.
After getting married in 1991, the couple separated three years later.
She then married Rande Gerber in 1998, and Gere married Carey Lowell from 2002 to 2016 before splitting and marrying Alejandra Silva in 2018. Silva is 34 years her junior.
