Five and a half years since Kenneth Mitchell fought against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Charcot’s disease. A touching photo of Kenneth Mitchell and his children, accompanied by a long and moving message: “Those loved ones know that he was a seeker of hope, a dreamer, someone who believed in his dreams, a football player, a walker on the beach […] and more than anything else, a proud father.” And added: “He gave, listened, he was sentimental, and knew how to observe those around him like no one else. One of his greatest qualities as a friend was that he loved to see his friends shine […] And god , oh god, he loved to laugh. More than anything, he loved to laugh.” Born in Toronto, Kenneth Mitchell is best known for his role in Captain Marvel, where he played Joseph Danvers, the father of Carol “Avenger” Danvers.
He has also appeared in numerous series such as Grey’s Anatomy, CSI: Miami, Ghost Whisperer, Hawaii 5-0, Mentalist, Criminal Minds and more recently Star Trek. His career was unfortunately impacted when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in August 2018. In a wheelchair since October 2019, he also lost the use of his voice due to the disease in 2021. Kenneth Mitchell leaves behind his wife , actress Susan May Pratt and their two children, Lillah born in 2007 and Kallum born in 2012.
