The events during the birth left doctors perplexed… Here’s what happened to the woman in labor.

A mother’s instincts are always right. At least that was the case for Lilly Munro, who despite being 24 weeks pregnant couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong with her unborn son Lennox. Melbourne, Australia resident Lilly Munro and her fiancé Brodie Moles went to the hospital. Shortly after they walked through the doors, she learned that something was seriously wrong. They had to act quickly. After fearing something was wrong with her pregnancy, doctors informed Lilly Munro and her fiancé Brodie Moles that their baby Lennox had a heart condition and that they needed to induce labor immediately. Since she was only 24 weeks pregnant, her son’s chances of survival were about 50/50. He weighed just over 1.8 pounds! To increase his chances of survival, baby Lennox had to be placed in a plastic bag.

This would prevent a dangerously large drop in temperature. The new parents found it disturbing to see him eventually connected to tubes and tubes. Lennox had to spend a total of 111 days in the hospital! When Lilly had to quit her job to stay with Lennox in the hospital, Brodie took on responsibilities at home, including helping Lilly look after her other three children. In the end it was worth it. Both parents valued every second they had with their newborn son.

Thanks to the many wonderful doctors and nurses who, as Lilly described, “went above and beyond,” Lennox was allowed to go home. He is doing well and has gained about nine pounds. The whole family is thrilled! Lilly, Brodie and their “miracle baby” Lennox were going through a lot at the time. Still, it’s amazing how far he’s come since being born prematurely.
