McDonald’s: the potatoes will give way to… vegetable fries!

But rest assured, this replacement is temporary! The vegetable fries will arrive at McDonald’s on March 7 for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.

McDonald’s is going green, again. The golden M giant will finally replace its famous potatoes with vegetable fries! Yes yes, you read that right. Potatoes will temporarily disappear from the menu to make way for carrot, beet and parsnip fries.

This is not the first time that McDonald’s has swapped fries for vegetables since a few years ago, the world leader in fast food offered cucumber sticks instead of fries in Happy Meal menus . This new greening is of course intended to ” meet new consumer needs and diversify the diet of consumers “, explains the company.

As of March 7, you will no longer be able to order potatoes with your burger. And no, instead, you can choose between the classic fries or the new… vegetable fries! What, vegetables at a fast food restaurant? Yes, McDonald’s is betting on offering carrot, beet and parsnip fries in its establishments. To do this, McDonald’s has teamed up with the Canadian company McCain, a leader in frozen products. Tests were carried out on a dozen vegetables and finally, carrots , beets and parsnips were chosen.

Nearly 3,000 tonnes of vegetables were grown in Hauts-de-France! Several exchanges between McCain’s agronomic department and McDonald’s R&D teams were necessary to ” ensure that the product remains tasty and attractive “. And the least we can say is that we really want to test!

According to the first lucky ones who were able to exclusively discover the new vegetable fries signed McDonald’s, it seems to be a real success! Carrots, beets and parsnips are served mixed in the form of fries, and presented in new reusable containers in restaurants (but also to take away). They will take the place of the essential potatoes from March 7 for a period of approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
