A lost cat found its owner after 17 long years thanks to an electronic chip

Finding a pet you thought was lost forever is always a wonderful feeling. And who better to confirm this fact than Kim Colliers, a British woman who was reunited with her cat after 17 years. Kim moved from England to Midlothian, Scotland, and her cat Tilly went missing shortly after moving. Kim started by putting up posters of the cat and continued to update information about the animal’s microchip. She continued to do so even after two moves, with an almost obsessive desire to find Tilly. On Tuesday she received a call from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) asking if she had a cat named Tilly.

This cat disappeared many years ago and the 39-year-old man was completely lost. Speaking to the Daily Record, Kim said that in response she said she had a cat named Tilly a long time ago. The officer responded by saying they had kept her in the back of their van. Illustration: “A cat missing for 8 years finds its owners thanks to its electronic chip” “It was a very strange feeling. I really didn’t know if I was going or if I was going. My world was turned upside down, but in a good way,” Kim told the Daily Record. Surprisingly, Tilly was found exactly where she had gone missing. Someone who saw her and noticed she was in desperate need of help alerted the SSPCA.

Tilly is not feeling well, she has a tumor in her bladder. She is now receiving palliative care at the Pentland Veterinary Clinic, where Kim works. The veterinary nurse says she has never heard of pets being reunited with their owners after such a long separation. Kim was finally reunited with her cat because she carefully updated her microchip information, and she now advises others who have lost pets to do the same.
