Pensioner with ‘little savings’ builds innovative tiny home and it’s absolutely stunning inside

She couldn’t believe she had built this tiny cottage herself, but she was happy with the result. A truly ideal retirement home! Daisy, Allyson’s small cottage, was created as a retirement alternative. She realized seven years ago that she wouldn’t be able to pay her rent once she retired. She has minimal savings and her employer does not offer a pension. So she gathered the courage (and knowledge) to build her little house. Allyson’s hard work paid off and she now has a wonderful home. She wanted a larger living room because she wanted to spend most of her time indoors. The sofa is built from two Ikea shelving units laid on their side and covered with a mattress that can serve as both a sofa and a sleeping area.

She placed removable shelves underneath to store her dog Tucker’s toys, hobby supplies and shoes. Her red leather armchair is one of her favorite pieces in her home. It features an adjustable headrest and a folding footstool, making it ideal for reading and sleeping. The armchair sits next to an oil-filled radiator and has a sanded block of wood on top that serves as a modest coffee table. Next to the sofa there is a counter with sufficient height for working and eating. When she is not eating, she enjoys her hobbies and other paper work. Allyson has a few shelves that she built in a women’s woodworking workshop. She has a small closet that she calls her “office” because it houses most of her office supplies. Allyson’s kitchen is spacious enough for cooking and even bathing Tucker! It has a stove and oven for cooking as well as a beautiful shattered glass and resin countertop.

Your sink is large and deep enough to accommodate pots, pans, and chugs. You’ll notice a clean, white wall above your sink, and you’ll be surprised to learn that there is additional storage space there. Allyson keeps her washer and dryer there, as well as her laundry and other household appliances. Your refrigerator is next to it and blends in well with the white background. She also placed shelves and other pull-out containers under the stairs to create additional storage space. Allyson made do with the smallest room in her house, the bathroom. It had a rotting toilet, a narrow, narrow vanity and sink, and a small round shower room with a galvanized deep basin for storage.

Everything about her bathroom is inventive, including the hula hoop that holds up her shower curtain! Her attic bedroom is big enough for a mattress and some of her things. Allyson realized that climbing up to her attic bedroom might be difficult, so she added a few safety holds. Thanks to the windows, the attic offers plenty of natural light and a beautiful view outside. Since space is limited in a small house, Allyson used every square inch to store her clothes in the corner under the blanket. But Allyson’s favorite activity was being outside.

She created this place so she could have coffee or tea with relatives or friends who come to visit her. It makes them appreciate the environment around Daisy, with all the chairs, plants and tall trees. This place completes your own little escape in this neighborhood.
