From the top of his 27 years, he raises a child found in a trash can

Since 2017, an American student has been raising a little boy found in a trash can in Haiti.

Not all superheroes wear capes. This is particularly the case of Jimmy Amisial, an American student from Texas. Since 2017, the latter has taken care of a little orphan boy.

This story began in December 2017 when Jimmy spent the Christmas holidays in his hometown located in Haiti. As usual, the young man volunteered in an orphanage. At the time, he had no idea that his life was about to change.

He finds a four-month-old baby in a trash can
Indeed, a few days after his arrival, Jimmy found a four-month-old baby in a garbage can placed near the orphanage: “ He was crying, he was not wearing any clothes. I had to do something to help him ,” the Good Samaritan told the Daily Mail.

As the British daily reports, Jimmy took the infant to his mother. On the spot, mother and son took care of the child before contacting a doctor and the authorities. The police launched an investigation to find the parents of the boy , without result.

It was in this context that Jimmy – then 22 years old – became the legal guardian of little Emilio: “ When the judge asked me to raise him, I was completely lost. I struggled to pay my university fees, and my family always struggled to make ends meet ,” the young man told the news site.

Before adding: “ But I never had a father, and this poor child faced a difficult life. Something deep inside me told me that all this had not happened for nothing .

After thinking long and hard about the judge’s request, Jimmy agreed to raise Emilio with the help of his mother, named Elicie.

Since then, Jimmy, who studies at Texas State University, divides his time between the United States and Gonaives, Haiti, where Elicie takes care of Emilio. In 2020, he took steps to adopt the boy.

” I really feel like a father, and I can’t wait to make Emilio my son .” To support his family, Jimmy had to interrupt his studies for a while. He will return to the benches of the university next September.

For his part, the little boy – who is about to celebrate his fifth birthday – is very attached to his surrogate dad. One thing is certain, he is the pride of his family: “ Mom loves him, the children at the orphanage love him, and I love him. He really is a special little boy ,” Jimmy said.
