Vyacheslav Minchanin, who lost his legs a long time ago and can only get around in a wheelchair or with prostheses, has managed to turn an abandoned store into a beautiful and cozy home.
The man is from Minsk, but all his life he dreamed of living in the village, but there was no housing. In 2011, fate gave him a surprise: he had the opportunity to buy an old building in the village of Kotyagi, this is the Minsk region, which was once a store.
From the very beginning, Vyacheslav planned a small production there. The thing is, the man had a very unusual small business. He participated in the aromatization of the place. That is to say, it produced equipment and smells with the help of which the offices smelled of flowers, wood and shops — the smell of freshly baked bread. But the deal didn’t work out. And Vyacheslav came up with the idea to equip this room in a residential building.
According to the man, he made this decision very quickly, since he had no home at the time. His friends and relatives considered him crazy, but Vyacheslav was sure that he would succeed. Two long years were spent just on paperwork. The man does not hide that it was hard for him, he had doubts, but with time everything was sorted out.
Since the store that Vyacheslav wanted to acquire was not profitable, the authorities decided to put it up for auction. The man was therefore lucky to acquire this building. He bought a building with an area of eighty-five square meters for ten thousand dollars.
In order to complete the most labor-intensive jobs, the man turned to professional builders for help. He says it was possible to manage on your own, but it is difficult to do some things in a wheelchair. Vyacheslav wanted to finish the job as soon as possible before his son was seven years old. He wanted the boy to go straight to the local school.
As soon as the house was heated and there was a place to sleep, Vyacheslav and his family moved. In Minsk, a man lived in a high-rise building. He could go down on his own, but to get up he needed help. Vyacheslav decided that the move would help him not depend on someone else’s help. In the new house, he could move independently.
The man had saved some money. Without them, he could not have rebuilt even this small house. The renovation costs were several times higher than the price of the building itself. They thought twenty thousand dollars would be enough to build a house. But during the construction, it became clear that more money would be needed than expected. If Vyacheslav had learned that the new house would cost him too much, he would never have started working. In this regard, the man says that in any business the main thing is not to be afraid and start. Then something will happen.
Vyacheslav and his wife were busy decorating the “newly built” house together. The most interesting thing is that the man has never been involved in construction work before. He did it all by watching videos on YouTube.
At the moment, repairs in Vyacheslav’s house are still in progress. The family plans to increase the size of the accommodation in the future. They want to build a terrace at home. The man is happy to do all the work and is happy that he doesn’t have to sit still, there will be something to do.
