While she had never traveled, the tallest woman in the world was able to fly thanks to the airline Turkish Airlines which removed 6 seats to install a stretcher for the young woman.

Rumeysa Gelgi is 25 years old and is the tallest woman in the world. Indeed, the young woman is 2.15 meters tall because she has Weaver syndrome, a disease that causes accelerated growth and bone proliferation.

Her disability usually forces Rumeysa to use a wheelchair or walker.

Because of her large size, Rumeysa was never able to travel. Already as a child, she was too big to fit in airplane seats .

However, Rumeysa took her first plane flight and flew from Istanbul to San Francisco. His trip was made possible thanks to the airline Turkish Airlines, which removed 6 seats from a plane to install a stretcher.

The trip was very pleasant and comfortable for Rumeysa, who remained lying down during the 13 hour flight.

“It was my first flight, but it certainly won’t be the last ,” she said. From now on, I will be very honored and happy to fly to different parts of the world with Turkish Airlines. A sincere thank you to everyone involved in my journey.”

In 2014, Rumeysa won the title of the tallest teenager in the world, before officially becoming the tallest woman in the world in 2021. If she went to California, it was on a business trip, but also to promote Guinness World Records events and defend the rights of people with rare diseases.
