Johnny Depp donated the million dollars paid by Amber Heard to charities

After their highly publicized trial, the two ex-spouses finally reached an agreement. The sum of 1 million dollars owed by the actress was donated to five charities chosen by Johnny Depp.

The $1 million settlement was agreed following the libel lawsuit after Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife Amber Heard , who had written an opinion piece for The Washington Post.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor claimed $50 million, while the Aquaman actress filed a counterclaim for $100 million. This had resulted, in 2022, in a resounding trial between the two actors.

Almost a year after a lawsuit that had made the headlines of social networks, the American tabloid TMZ reports that Amber Heard has settled the sum of 1 million dollars.

At the end of this trial won by Johnny Depp, Amber Heard was first ordered to pay him $ 15 million in damages. A sum which was then reduced to 10 million dollars before being once again reduced to 2, then 1 million dollars.

Amber Heard has since paid the $1 million legal settlement, covered by her insurance, as agreed with her ex-husband. Johnny Depp then chose to donate the money equally between five charities of his choice, reports TMZ.

200,000 dollars (i.e. 185,140 euros) will therefore be donated to each of the five associations close to his heart: Make-A-Film Foundation, which works with seriously ill children to help them make short films; The Painted Turtle, an association founded by Depp’s idol Paul Newman, which offers a camping experience for children with serious health problems; Red Feather, which helps Native Americans; the Tetiaroa Society dear to another of his idols, Marlon Brando, which strives to preserve the ecosystem of the Pacific island; finally, the Amazonia Fund Alliance which protects indigenous communities in the Amazon.

An unfortunate trial that will at least have made it possible to do a good deed.
